Vintage Inspired Lamb Cake with a Modern Twist

Vintage Inspired Lamb Cake with a Modern Twist

Growing up, I remember my Mother making a lamb cake in a Nordic Ware cake mold. To Daddy's delight, she covered it with seven-minute whipped frosting and a lovely coating of fluffy white coconut. She served it on top of her beautiful milk glass cake pedestal covered...

Lemony Bean Salad

My mother made the best bean salad. I haven't found her written recipe, and this is one of many times I wish that I'd stopped long enough to watch her make it. I do remember it had kidney beans, white shoe peg corn, and French-style green beans mixed with sugar and...

Spring Tablescape Inspiration

When I put away Christmas, I immediately thought of how to style my dining table for later winter and early spring. I found a few things at Target and wanted to show you how I put them together for a Peter Rabbit garden-themed tablescape. I already had the basket tray...

Hospitality is in my DNA. I founded Home with a Twist, a daughter’s twist on her mother’s traditions, in memory of my mother to celebrate her life and the gifts she shared with me. Mother loved to celebrate life’s occasions – big and small.

She taught me how to prepare fabulous food, entertain guests with style and design a traditional home with a pop of color and a splash of animal print. Share my fondness of blending Mother’s mid-century style with a modern spin.

Mrs. Twist Takes on Instagram

Gorgeous day spent putting my hands in dirt, removing the old and planting the new. Hearing the birds sing and knowing they are doing the same to prepare nests for their tiny eggs. I can't wait to see what blooms!

I've got several YouTube videos on how to use galvanized tubs for plants and vegetables if you're interested in learning. Comment GARDEN, and I'll send you the link to my channel.

Our favorite spring activity in Fort Worth is the annual Butterflies in the Garden exhibit in the Rainforest Conservatory at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden.

The seasonal event features a diverse collection of exotic butterflies from around the world. It truly is magical to walk among these beautiful creatures and be up so close to see their coloring!

Visit the @fortworthbotanicgarden to learn more and purchase your tickets - which includes access to the grounds - before the exhibit ends April 14.
My sweet Mr. Twist. Here's how we met...

My sister and her friend set us up on a blind date. He left a few messages saying he'd like to meet, and I ignored them because I was seeing someone else. But my sister said I was being rude and needed to call him back.

Reluctantly, I did call him, and I told him that I wasn't interested, but I'd be his friend and help him make a love connection with someone else, like a networking opportunity.

Since it wasn't technically a "date," he showed up dressed like a lumber jack. He wasn't too thrilled about my three cats looking him over. After dinner, when he dropped me off, he almost ran over me with his car. He (much later) told me he thought I was high maintenance, and I thought he was a seriel killer because his car was way too clean.

Needless to say, about a month later, I changed my mind, dumped the guy I was seeing, and fell in love with Mr. Twist. After my very sad and lonely first marriage, Mr. Twist was the gift my heart and soul needed.

We'll celebrate 28 years of marriage in May, and it's been the best years of my life.
